For new entrants wanting to start working in real estate a Certificate of Registration is required to work as an Assistant Agent in NSW.  This will allow you to work in real estate sales, property management, stock and station or strata management, employed and supervised under a Licensee in charge (Class 1 Agent).

  • The Certificate of registration is the entry level requirement to work as an Assistant Agent in NSW under the supervision of a licensee in charge who holds a Class 1 Licence. The maximum time you can operate as an Assistant Agent is 4 years, by this time a Certificate of Registration holder is required to complete the qualifications (CPP41419 Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice) and progress to a Class 2 Licence. A Certificate of Registration holder must have a minimum of 12-month experience working as an Assistant Agent before they can progress to a Class 2 Licence.
  • The Class 2 Real Estate Agent Licence will allow you to act as an agent for a client to sell, buy or exchange property, businesses, or professional practices. Negotiate with clients and vendors.  Collect rent, deposits, bond payments and fees related to a lease, or contract.
  • The Class 1 Licence allows you to carry out the same authorised activities as a Class 2 licence holder, PLUS act as a licensee in charge, work as an independent agent, and open and authorise trust account transactions. You need to hold a Class 2 Licence for 2 years before you can apply for the Class 1 Licence.

Payment of your course fee is required before we can enrol you in your course, either in full as an upfront payment, or the first instalment of a payment plan.

The great thing about doing your real estate course with Validum Institute is that you are able to do the course at your pace, in your own time, to suit your schedule.

  • Certificate of Registration – you have 6 months starting from the day we send you your log in details.
  • CPP41419 Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice (Class 2 Agent) – you have 12 months starting from the day we send you your log in details. * CPP41419 Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice (NSW Class 2 Agent) coming soon.

You must submit all your Assessments 14 days before your Course Expiry Date to allow for marking and any resubmissions.

Unless prior arrangements have been made with Validum, we will not accept any assessments submitted after 14 days prior to your Course Expiry Date.

Our courses are self-paced, which means that it may not necessarily take you that long to complete your course.  The length of time it takes you to complete your course depends on various factors, such as your experience and the amount of time you have available for self-paced study.

The Units of Competency (Units) in our current courses are from the CPP41419 Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice qualification.

A Statement of Attainment is a formal certification issued by a Registered Training Organisation (like the Validum Institute) which states that a student has been assessed as competent in the units of competency completed by the student.

When you have successfully completed your course , we will send your Statement of Attainment electronically by email.  Statements of Attainments have a QR code unique to each individual student and the units of competency they have completed.

Your Statement of Attainment is needed to apply to NSW Fair Trading for your certificate of registration or licence. CLICK LINK for information on applying to NSW Fair Trading.

After you complete your course and receive your Statement of Attainment, you can apply to NSW Fair Trading for your certificate of registration or licence to enable you to commence work.

A Class 1 Licence will allow you to act as a licensee in charge, work for yourself as an independent agent open and authorise trust account transactions for the business.

A Class 2 Licence will allow you to act as an agent in sales or property management, negotiate with clients and vendors, collect rent, deposits, bond payments and fees related to a lease, licence or contract.

Continued professional development (CPD) is a requirement to keep your certificate of registration or Licence current and is required annually.  CLICK HERE for more information on the CPD requirements for working in NSW.

 The Certificate of Registration will allow you to work in NSW as an Assistant Agent in real estate sales or property management, stock and station or strata management.  As an Assistant Agent you must be employed by a licence holder and supervised by a licensee in charge.

A Certificate of Registration is issued by NSW Fair Trading and is issued for a four-year term and is not renewable.  Within the four-year period Certificate of Registration holders must complete the CPP41419 Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice qualification and progress to a Class 2 licence.
